Network Services Lead
Vancouver, BC | Calgary, AB | Edmonton, AB | Full-Time | Remote, with occasional office attendance
About the Role Our client is hiring an Enterprise Network Lead to run the day-to-day health of its corporate network and take it forward. You'll own a connected environment of wired and wireless networks, WAN links, remote access VPN, Azure-based networking, and Fortinet security infrastructure. You'll advise IT leadership on network direction, push for consistent standards, and bring in new approaches where they make sense.
This is a hands-on leadership role. You'll guide a team of network engineers, step in on the toughest incidents, and work alongside architecture, security, and cloud colleagues, external carriers, and internal business teams. The goal is a network that stays secure, dependable, and ready to scale.
What You'll Do
Direction and Standards
- Help IT leadership set the plan for network operations, including standards, policies, and ways of working that support security, uptime, and business needs
- Review performance data, service trends, risks, and new technologies to help decide where the team should focus
- Create and keep current the documentation, monitoring, and runbooks that keep service delivery consistent
Running the Network
- Keep the network and communications environment available and performing well, and keep improving it
- Run the incident, problem, change, and recovery processes, and raise the quality of how the team delivers service
- Lead the response to complex outages, find the root cause, and make sure the fix holds
- Replace manual work with automation and build solutions that scale
Technical Leadership
- Act as the senior technical authority for LAN/WAN, wireless, VPN, Azure networking, Fortinet security, and enterprise connectivity
- Guide, coach, and develop the network engineers on the team
Vendors and Partners
- Manage relationships with internet providers, telecom carriers, and other third parties so connectivity stays reliable and service levels are met
- Work with infrastructure, cloud, security, and business teams to deliver network services that fit their needs
What You Bring
Experience
- 8+ years in enterprise network operations, with a background in infrastructure support and IT service management
- 5+ years leading or directing a network operations team in a large, complex environment
- Strong experience with network design, connectivity services, and security across on-premises and cloud environments
- Proven track record managing ISPs, telecom carriers, and other vendors, including service levels and escalations
- Solid grounding in structured incident, problem, and change management, with a focus on continuous improvement
- Experience supporting hybrid cloud environments, including Azure networking and business-critical services
Technical Skills
- Hands-on experience with Fortinet firewalls (FortiGate), SD-WAN, and secure connectivity
- Working knowledge of cloud networking and how it connects to on-premises infrastructure
People and Communication
- A record of leading, coaching, and growing technical teams
- Strong working relationships with vendors, service providers, and stakeholders
- Clear communication, sharp analysis, and sound judgment under pressure
- The ability to explain technical problems in terms of business impact and recommend next steps
Work Setup
- Remote, with the option to visit your nearest office (Vancouver, Calgary, or Edmonton) when needed
