Network Security Engineer

We are looking for a Network Security Engineer to support and strengthen enterprise network operations in San Antonio, Texas. This role focuses on securing and optimizing both on-premises and Azure-based environments while helping maintain reliable connectivity across critical infrastructure. The ideal candidate brings deep hands-on experience with network security technologies, strong troubleshooting ability, and a practical approach to designing scalable, resilient solutions.

Responsibilities

• Manage and support network infrastructure across Cisco-based on-premises environments and Microsoft Azure networking services to ensure secure, stable performance.

• Diagnose complex network and hardware problems, perform root cause analysis, and restore service for high-impact incidents affecting business operations.

• Evaluate existing network architecture and recommend improvements that align with future capacity, security, and operational requirements.

• Oversee intrusion monitoring activities, investigate suspicious network events, and coordinate timely response actions to reduce security risk.

• Maintain current security signatures, protection features, and related configurations so defensive systems remain effective against emerging threats.

• Design secure network solutions for local data center and Azure Government cloud deployments in accordance with project goals and architectural standards.

• Track and report network performance indicators to support operational reviews, service visibility, and ongoing infrastructure planning.

• Implement firewall policy updates, web filtering adjustments, and other network security changes in accordance with approved requirements.

• Perform lifecycle maintenance activities, including hardware and software upgrades for Cisco switches, Check Point firewalls, and F5 load balancing platforms.

• At least 10 years of overall IT experience, including 5 or more years focused on network design, deployment, and operational support.

• Minimum 5 years of hands-on experience with Check Point security technologies, including firewall administration and intrusion prevention capabilities.

• Minimum 5 years of practical experience with Cisco networking platforms such as Nexus, Catalyst, routers, ASA, and VPN technologies.

• Strong knowledge of Azure networking services, including virtual networks, routing, subnets, ExpressRoute, and network security controls.

• Solid understanding of core networking concepts such as TCP/IP, BGP, subnetting, routing, load balancing, and IPsec.

• Experience working with F5 load balancers and related traffic management solutions in enterprise environments.

• Scripting ability in PowerShell, Python, Bash, or similar languages is preferred.

• Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Information Security, or a related field, or four additional years of equivalent network security engineering experience; CCNA required, Azure Network Engineer Associate preferred, and must be a U.S. citizen eligible to obtain and maintain Tier 3 / Level II IT Security Clearance.
