Network Engineer SME

Leidos Digital Modernization Sector is seeking a Network Engineer SME to join the Defense Enclave Services (DES) team supporting DISA at Fort Meade, MD on a hybrid basis. This role requires an active Secret security clearance prior to start and the ability to obtain Top Secret. US Citizenship is required.

You will work as a Network Engineer SME within the DISA-focused DES program, which aims to unify DoD Fourth Estate common IT systems, functions, and program elements under DISA’s Fourth Estate Network Optimization program office. The goal is to provide a modern, unified network architecture (DoDNet) that enhances user experience, strengthens security, and improves network reliability.

Responsibilities

• Provide network engineering subject-matter-expertise support to the DES team supporting DISA at Fort Meade, MD on a hybrid basis.
• Contribute to enterprise network modernization and migration efforts, including large-scale transformation or integration programs.
• Collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams in dynamic operational environments and support customer-facing engineering and technical coordination.
• Support the integration of enterprise networking with cloud-based infrastructure and services, including hybrid cloud networking concepts and secure connectivity architectures.
• Participate in network segmentation, access control, and identity-based networking solutions, as well as enterprise wireless migration planning and execution.
• Work in multi-vendor enterprise environments and assist with implementation, troubleshooting, and operational support.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree and 12+ years of related experience; additional years of experience may be considered in lieu of degree.

• DoD 8570 IAT Level II certification required prior to start (Security+ CE or equivalent).

• Must have experience in enterprise network modernization and migration, and in supporting large-scale transformation or integration efforts.

• Strong troubleshooting, implementation, and operational support background.

• Experience working in multi-vendor enterprise environments and in customer-facing engineering and technical coordination.

• Ability to support cross-functional engineering teams in dynamic operational environments.

• Experience integrating enterprise networking with cloud-based infrastructure and services, and understanding hybrid cloud networking concepts and secure connectivity architectures.

• Experience supporting network segmentation, access control, and identity-based networking solutions.

• Enterprise wireless migration planning and execution experience.
