Job title: Network Engineer
About the Role Take on a new challenge and apply your networking and telecommunications expertise in a cutting-edge field at Alstom. In Toronto, you’ll work with cross-disciplinary teams to design, deploy, and maintain networks and telecom solutions that support Canada’s busiest public transit system, helping reduce carbon and improve mobility.
What You'll Do
- Design and deploy networks and virtual solutions based on system requirements
- Create and maintain technical documentation, including System Functional Specifications, Architecture Design Descriptions, and Interface Control Documents
- Perform capacity analysis for Communication Networks and utilize traffic generators and network management tools to meet performance goals
- Participate in radio and network design, implementation, and testing activities
- Support installation, testing, commissioning, and maintenance activities both remotely and in the field
- Ensure project alignment with objectives, milestones, and quality standards
What We're Looking For
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering or equivalent experience in networking or telecommunications; P.Eng certification or in progress
- 5–15 years of related experience
- Knowledge of network hardware including servers, routers, and other devices; strong TCP/IP and LAN/WAN understanding
- Experience with network security, policies, and routing protocols (e.g., IP or MPLS)
- Hands-on experience with IPsec, VPNs, and firewalls
- Familiarity with Kubernetes and GIS platforms (a plus)
- CCNP/CCDE/CCIE certifications desirable
Compensation & Benefits
- Compensation: CAD 90,000 – 115,000 per year, plus benefits and eligibility for an annual performance bonus; final compensation based on skills, experience, and internal equity
