Job Summary

The Network Engineer 3 is responsible for the design, implementation, maintenance, optimization, and support of enterprise LAN, WAN, Data Center, backbone, and cloud-connected network infrastructure. This role serves as a key contributor to enterprise networking initiatives, ensuring the stability, security, performance, and availability of critical network services supporting global business operations.The ideal candidate will possess strong experience supporting large-scale enterprise network environments, including routing, switching, network security, cloud connectivity, capacity management, data center networking, and operational excellence. This individual will partner closely with infrastructure, security, architecture, and operations teams to design and implement highly available networking solutions while supporting enterprise modernization and transformation initiatives. Experience supporting highly regulated environments and large-scale infrastructure programs is highly desirable.

Key Responsibilities

• Network Engineering & Design

• Lead or participate in implementing enterprise network infrastructure solutions across LAN, WAN, Internet backbone, Data Center, and cloud-connected environments.Design, review, implement, test, and validate network solutions supporting strategic business initiatives.Participate in enterprise-level projects from a network engineering perspective.Review industry best practices and recommend solutions that enhance network reliability, scalability, automation, and security.Develop and maintain technical specifications, implementation plans, and engineering documentation.Support enterprise data center migration initiatives and network modernization programs.Network Operations & Support

• Manage production network infrastructure, including:Internet Protocol (IP) backbone networksData center networksEdge Points of Presence (PoPs)Global enterprise connectivity servicesEnsure continuous availability and operational stability of network services.Execute network changes utilizing established enterprise change management processes.Monitor network health and proactively identify service-impacting risks and issues.Investigate and resolve network capacity, performance, and connectivity issues.Provide impact analysis and remediation recommendations for network incidents and outages.Support complex multi-domain enterprise environments with mission-critical availability requirements.Routing, Switching & Data Center Technologies

• Design, configure, and support enterprise routing and switching environments.Implement and maintain:BGP (Border Gateway Protocol)OSPF (Open Shortest Path First)Static RoutingConfigure and support modern network platforms, including:Cisco NexusArista NetworksSupport Data Center network architectures and high-availability designs.Participate in network testing and validation efforts to ensure operational readiness and service reliability.Support infrastructure modernization and data center transformation programs.Network Security

• Implement network security policies and controls across routers, switches, and firewalls.Support enterprise DDoS mitigation strategies and network protection efforts.Configure and maintain:Access Control Lists (ACLs)Virtual Routing and Forwarding (VRF)DDoS Virtual Connect solutionsApply security and regulatory requirements when designing and implementing network solutions.Partner with cybersecurity teams to improve enterprise network security posture.Integrate networking infrastructure with enterprise security tools and cloud security platforms.Support security automation and infrastructure security initiatives.Cloud Networking & Infrastructure

• Support hybrid networking environments across on-premise and cloud platforms.Assist with design and support of network connectivity within:Microsoft AzureGoogle Cloud Platform (GCP)Partner with cloud engineering teams to implement secure, scalable cloud networking architectures.Support cloud infrastructure automation and network security initiatives.Capacity Planning & Reliability Engineering

• Perform proactive network testing to validate network performance, capacity, and reliability.Identify gaps, risks, and vulnerabilities that could impact service availability.Assist in forecasting network growth requirements and capacity planning activities.Develop remediation plans to address network bottlenecks and infrastructure constraints.Drive improvements supporting operational excellence and continuous service improvement.Automation & Infrastructure Modernization

• Utilize automation and scripting technologies to improve operational efficiency and reduce manual effort.Develop automation solutions using:PythonYAMLAnsibleGitHubSupport network automation initiatives and infrastructure modernization efforts.Maintain automation documentation and standards.Contribute to infrastructure-as-code, automation framework development, and platform automation programs.Support DevOps and DevSecOps-driven infrastructure engineering initiatives.Change Management & Documentation

• Prepare comprehensive implementation plans, rollback procedures, and maintenance documentation.Participate in change management reviews and approval processes.Utilize ServiceNow for change control, workflow management, and implementation tracking.Create and maintain detailed network diagrams and technical documentation utilizing:Microsoft VisioMicrosoft Office SuiteEnsure documentation aligns with enterprise engineering standards and operational processes.Collaboration & Leadership

• Partner with Product Infrastructure, Security, Architecture, and Operations teams to improve operational standards and practices.Collaborate across multiple technical disciplines to resolve complex issues and implement enterprise solutions.Mentor junior engineers and network operations personnel.Provide training and technical guidance on network installation, configuration, and support.Drive flawless execution of network engineering initiatives from planning through implementation.Support enterprise modernization efforts and cross-functional infrastructure transformation programs.

• Required Qualifications

• 4+ years of Network Engineering experience or equivalent demonstrated through work experience, training, military experience, or education.3+ years of experience designing and implementing LAN, WAN, and Data Center networking solutions in large enterprise environments.3+ years of experience supporting IP routing technologies, including:BGPOSPFStatic Routing3+ years of experience implementing DDoS mitigation strategies and configuring ACLs in enterprise environments.3+ years of experience supporting modern routing and switching platforms, including:Cisco NexusArista NetworksExperience with network security controls, including:ACLsVRFsDDoS Virtual ConnectNetwork SegmentationExperience utilizing enterprise change management processes.Demonstrated ability to create and maintain technical design documentation.Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving skills.Ability to make decisions quickly in high-volume, mission-critical environments.
