About the Role Fairleigh Dickinson University seeks a Network Analyst who will also serve as Student Intern Coordinator. This full-time role combines network infrastructure responsibilities with student internship program management. The position requires on-call availability 24/7 and on-campus presence; candidates should be prepared to work weekends/holidays as scheduled.

What You'll Do

  • Network Analyst (80%): Install, maintain and troubleshoot Cisco LAN hardware and Wireless Access Points, primarily layer 2 switches; perform physical fiber/copper troubleshooting, patching and running; some OSI layer 3 work as skill permits; maintain detailed documentation of layouts and connections.

  • Install, maintain and troubleshoot LAN software (operating systems, applications, utilities and management software).

  • Design and conduct tests for monitoring and evaluating the continuing performance of network equipment; provide management reports on environment status.

  • Maintain knowledge of developments in Networking; make design and hardware recommendations to Director of Networking.

  • On-call 24 hours per day, 7 days per week; required to work weekends/holidays when scheduled.

  • Monitor and respond to end-user tickets through the Ticket Management system.

  • Perform other duties as requested.

  • Student Intern Coordinator (20%): Assist with onboarding training of new wave of student Interns; observe work; hold weekly 1:1 meetings; develop Knowledge Items and Auto Pilot configurations; mentor interns to ensure accreditation and provide grades to faculty.

  • Serve as primary recruiter for Student Interns (postings on Handshake, interviewing candidates) and liaison between Service Desk and Computer Science Department; actively recruit new students via promotions and presentations.

  • Manage internship program logistics and coordinate with faculty; ensure additional Service Desk hours require Director of Networking approval.

What We're Looking For

  • BS in Computer Science (or related) plus two years of Networking Technology experience.
  • Strong working knowledge of Cisco IOS; layer 2 configuration, QOS, 802.1q, EtherChannel, Spanning Tree; IP subnetting, routing and VLANs.
  • Experience in network management with LAN, WAN, Wireless and VOIP technologies; thorough TCP/IP knowledge.
  • Experience with troubleshooting devices (packet sniffer, OTDR, CATx certification tool, wireless spectrum analyzer).
  • Ability to install, maintain and troubleshoot networking/telecommunications equipment; strong organizational and self-education skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication; ability to interact with all levels of university personnel and students.
  • Physical ability to lift and carry equipment; valid driver’s license and access to a car for campus support (24/7).
  • Background check required; willing to sign waiver and provide Social Security Card.
