Nature & Biodiversity Lead

We're looking for a Nature & Biodiversity Lead to join our National (remote) team. Kier Design are a highly regarded Tier 1 Contractor, with a 750 plus strong design consultancy team, recognised as a Top 30 employer on Glassdoor. Due to the exciting and rapid expansion of our internal environmental consultancy, we are seeking a talented individual to join Kier Design's Environment & Sustainability Team.

Location: Nationwide Hours: 37.5 per week - some flexibility on hours available if desired, just let us know when you speak to us.

Are you…

  • Holding a degree in a relevant subject, or equivalent qualification
  • A Chartered Ecologist/Environmentalist and full member of CIEEM/ISEP (or equivalent)
  • Experienced in leading and mentoring teams of ecologists and technical specialists
  • Able to demonstrate a robust understanding of UK environmental legislation, policy drivers and standards
  • Confident in communicating technical information in a clear and concise manner

What will you be responsible for?

As a Nature & Biodiversity Lead, you'll be working within the Environment & Sustainability Team, supporting them in delivering strategic growth and technical excellence. This is an opportunity to lead the strategic growth of our ecology, landscape, nature-based solutions and ecosystem services capabilities. You'll be at the forefront of delivering innovative solutions across a range of exciting and complex projects throughout the UK, whilst leading and developing a national team of specialists. Your day to day will include:

  • Leading the delivery of Nature and Biodiversity services across a range of sectors including road, rail, water and property
  • Working with other senior leaders to grow and develop nature-based solutions, ecosystem services and climate resilience capability
  • Managing, mentoring and supporting the national team of ecologists
  • Providing technical advice and innovative solutions to complex ecological challenges throughout the project lifecycle
  • Collaborating with designers, clients and supply chain partners to deliver successful outcomes
