Multiple Positions-Part-Time General Education (CORE) Faculty

St. John Fisher University is seeking part-time General Education (CORE) faculty to teach within the university’s new core curriculum. Openings cover courses across the general education spectrum, from first-year learning communities, data analysis, and research writing to mid-level exploration courses across various disciplines. Successful applicants will have experience teaching writing and other forms of communication within their area of expertise, and/or strong civic and community connections with a commitment to fostering leadership and understanding of equity and inclusion. Positions are filled on an ongoing, as-needed basis to enhance course offerings. Compensation is provided on a per-course basis at rates set by the University. Part-time instructors will have access to University facilities, receive instructional supplies, and be invited to faculty development opportunities. Evening course assignments may be available. Location is 3690 East Ave., Rochester, NY 14618.

Responsibilities

• Teach courses within the general education curriculum.
• Deliver instruction that aligns with the University’s outcomes in Written/Oral/Visual Communication, Inquiry & Analysis, Integrative & Applied Learning, Civic & Community Engagement, Diversity, Equity & Inclusion, Collaboration & Leadership, and Ethical Reasoning.
• Contribute to a department and campus culture that emphasizes equity, inclusion, and leadership development.
• Utilize available instructional resources and participate in opportunities for faculty development as offered.

Requirements

• A Master’s degree from an accredited college or university.

• Teaching experience is preferred.

• Ability to teach writing and other forms of communication pertinent to the instructor’s area of expertise.

• Willingness to engage with civic/community connections and to foster leadership and understanding of equity and inclusion.

• Availability for part-time, per-course teaching assignments, with potential evening courses.

• Compensation for Fisher courses typically reflects 3-credit courses, with an example of $3,501 per course (based on $1,167 per credit, 3 credits per course).
