Multimedia Technician
Location: Cambridge MA 02138
Rate: $50-60 per hour
Duration: 3 Months
The Multimedia Technician provides audiovisual (AV) and multimedia support for courses, meetings, and events. Responsibilities include setting up and operating equipment, recording lectures and presentations, troubleshooting technical issues, and assisting faculty, staff, and students with multimedia technology. Training on equipment, workflows, and facilities will be provided.
Key Responsibilities

Provide multimedia and audiovisual support for classrooms, lectures, meetings, and events.

Assist faculty, students, and staff with classroom technology, including video projection, audio systems, and digital video recording.

Support the presentation of instructional materials using PowerPoint, Keynote, Google Slides, YouTube, and other media platforms.

Respond promptly and professionally to technical issues and provide on-site troubleshooting during classes and events.

Coordinate multimedia equipment and technology requirements for scheduled courses and events.

Check out, transport, set up, and return audiovisual equipment as needed.

Set up recording equipment before classes and ensure all systems are functioning properly.

Record lectures, presentations, and instructional activities in classrooms and labs, adjusting camera angles, panning, and zooming as needed.

Ensure high-quality audio and video recordings.

Assist with equipment maintenance and report technical issues requiring additional support.

Communicate availability and scheduling needs to shift coordinators in a timely manner.

Follow established procedures, policies, and technical protocols.

Provide coverage for team members during absences and assist with other multimedia support needs as assigned.

Basic Qualifications

Minimum of two years of college or technical school.

Working knowledge of audiovisual, multimedia, and video technologies.

Familiarity with computer hardware, software, and connections to external devices.

Strong customer service skills and a commitment to providing a positive user experience.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications
-
Educational or professional experience in multimedia, audiovisual technology, or a related technical field.

Familiarity with lavalier and handheld microphones, Shure wireless microphone systems, Panasonic and/or Blackmagic video cameras, HD LCD projectors, Crestron or Extron room control systems, and assistive listening equipment.

Experience projecting and presenting content from Windows, Mac, and internet-based media sources.

Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks while meeting deadlines.

Demonstrated reliability, punctuality, and consistent attendance.

Ability to work effectively with a diverse range of clients and collaborate with team members to resolve technical issues in a professional, customer-focused manner.

Working Conditions

Some evening and weekend shifts may be required.

Work is performed in classrooms, laboratories, meeting spaces, and event venues.

The position requires transporting, setting up, and breaking down audiovisual equipment.

Flexibility to work varying shifts based on scheduling and operational needs is required.
