About the Role The Multimedia Designer reports to the Associate Director of Website and Design and helps strengthen the Columbia College brand and institutional storytelling across Columbia College channels. The role creates graphic materials for print and digital communications, and manages photography and video content, web updates, and organized media libraries.
What You'll Do
- Design print and digital materials (presentations, brochures, posters, signage, invitations, web and email assets, templates, brand toolkits, logos, iconography, and infographics) in alignment with Columbia College brand standards.
- Establish creative direction with strong visual storytelling, typography, and layout; collaborate with CMEE on campaigns for timely delivery of visual assets.
- Manage print production: prepare files for press, review proofs, coordinate with printers and vendors, and ensure high-quality execution of printed materials.
- Evolve brand standards by developing templates, guidelines, and best practices to strengthen consistency across communications channels.
- Oversee asset management tools (Lingo, Canva, Adobe Creative Cloud, YouTube, Google Drive) and keep a master project tracker to monitor digital and print media projects.
- Provide photography and video coverage for events/headshots/campus life as needed; coordinate with campus and freelance photographers; perform image retouching and video editing; conduct archival photo research.
- Update and manage website content through the Drupal CMS and liaise with outside production vendors; maintain organized media files for future use.
What We're Looking For
- Bachelor’s degree and/or equivalent related experience in graphic design, communications, visual arts, or similar field; minimum of 2 years professional graphic design experience.
- Portfolio demonstrating strong graphic design, typography, illustration, and marketing communications skills.
- Proficiency in Adobe Creative Cloud (InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator); knowledge of print production processes; familiarity with email marketing development; experience with photography; working knowledge of copyright laws.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills; strong attention to detail; ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Creative thinker who can work independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
Nice to Have
- Experience working in complex organizations with multiple stakeholders and familiarity navigating higher education audiences and administrative environments.
- Experience in motion graphics, animation, and video editing; familiarity with CMS platforms such as Drupal and WordPress.
- Familiarity with motion graphics and video editing software (Adobe After Effects and Adobe Premiere).
- Familiarity with design and prototyping tools such as Sketch and Figma.
Compensation & Benefits
- Salary range: $72,000 - $75,000 annually. The final salary is set based on a variety of factors including budgets, qualifications, and experience.
