About the Role Under general supervision, the MRI Technologist performs magnetic resonance imaging studies using an MRI device, including screening and preparing patients, positioning, setting imaging parameters, and performing computer processing and displaying images. Assists in developing protocol for patient studies and performs quality control procedures on equipment. This is a full-time, temporary six-month position, on-site at Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio, TX, with potential extension. Salary range $36.00 - $42.00 hourly.

What You'll Do

• Monitor participant data and assist the Principal Investigator with data collection and entry
• Screen research participants for MRI safety and study eligibility; prepare and position participants for scanning; set imaging parameters; acquire MRI scans per protocol
• Transfer images from disk to magnetic media to produce the transparency and develop film in automatic processor
• Adhere to OSHA and infection control procedures
• Document all correspondence and communication pertinent to the research
• Interact and communicate effectively with PI, site personnel, research participants, The Geneva Foundation and the study sponsor
• On-site coordination and support for BLES study operations

What We're Looking For

• Must be registered with the American Registry of Magnetic Resonance Imaging Technologists (ARMRIT), or must be registered with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) in Radiography, American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS), or Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board (NMTCB) with the advanced ARRT registry in MRI or registry eligible; if registry eligible, registry must be current as of date of hire
• Proficiency with MRI processes
• Healthcare background and/or degree preferred
• Accredited training in a radiology program
• Knowledge of military systems preferred
• Knowledge of regulatory requirements relating to MRI exams and equipment
• Demonstrated competence in oral and written communication
• Knowledge of imaging techniques to perform routine tests
• Knowledge of imaging equipment and testing to perform quality control checks and troubleshooting of instrumentation
• Computer skills including Microsoft Word and Excel, e-mail, and database systems

Nice to Have

• Healthcare background and/or degree (optional)
• Familiarity with military systems and regulatory environments
• Experience with quality control and troubleshooting of MRI equipment
• Strong communication and teamwork skills
