Job title: Molecular Software and Equipment Specialist
About the Role The Molecular Software and Equipment Specialist manages the life cycle of molecular software and equipment across clinical operations, technical operations, and quality management. The role ensures optimal software and equipment performance through maintenance, troubleshooting, and utilization optimization, and supports system upgrades, automation, and integration of new technologies in a Fort Myers, FL laboratory.
What You'll Do
- Lead maintenance, troubleshooting, and performance optimization of molecular software and equipment to maximize uptime and efficiency.
- Manage the Molecular Equipment Log and cold storage systems to support equipment life-cycle management.
- Collaborate with the molecular operations team, biomedical team, and external vendors to resolve software/equipment issues quickly, minimizing downtime.
- Train operators on proper utilization and maintenance of molecular software and equipment.
- Support validation, IQ/OQ/PQ, and integration of new software and equipment and advanced technologies into existing workflows.
- Assist the Molecular Technical Writer with procedures and documentation, including tech transfers, assay optimizations, and compliance changes.
- Evaluate feasibility of new instruments/software and provide strategic recommendations for adoption.
- Assist with automation system troubleshooting, maintenance, and optimization.
- Ensure safety compliance and conduct audits/quality checks on software/equipment performance; maintain QC records; prepare for regulatory audits with the Molecular Quality Team.
- Act as primary contact for software/equipment activities, ensuring GDP verifications and facilitating MasterControl routing for regulatory compliance.
What We're Looking For
- Bachelor’s degree in Scientific or Technical Discipline or equivalent experience; Master’s degree preferred.
- 3+ years of experience in a molecular laboratory, IT, or technical support role.
- Automation System Certification preferred; Certification in Coding Language preferred.
- Familiarity with molecular laboratory software, equipment, and automation systems, especially Hamilton Robotics, qPCR instruments, and sequencing instruments.
- Basic understanding of molecular laboratory/analytical techniques.
- Knowledge of CAP/CLIA and FDA (GCP or GLP as appropriate) requirements.
- Commitment to regulatory compliance and quality assurance.
Nice to Have
- Automation System Certification (preferred).
- Coding language certification (preferred).
