About this role
A Junior Model Based Systems Engineer (MBSE) / Digital Engineer with MTSI supports a government/contractor operations team in evaluating legacy architectures and new technologies, and applying mission concepts of employment to meet evolving joint objectives. The role is located in the Suitland, MD area and involves building and managing mission engineering analyses and integrating MBSE practices throughout project development.
Responsibilities
- Generate system concepts of operations, concepts of employment, and requirements documentation.
- Participate in system testing and integration using model-based systems engineering tools and techniques.
- Work with advanced systems, including command and control elements and data processing systems.
- Participate in system requirements reviews and create or update requirement specifications and technical documentation.
- Review system engineering documentation to ensure specifications meet needs and are accurate.
- Develop trade studies to support selecting preferred design solutions and course-of-action alternatives.
- Provide review and analysis support to the test team during formal testing.
- Participate in project technical risk analysis and mitigation.
Requirements

Minimum of two (2) years of related professional experience.

Experience applying the Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) approach.

Experience with Cameo Systems Modeler or Cameo Systems Architect.

Understanding of frameworks such as Unified Architecture Framework (UAF), DoDAF, TOGAF, and modeling languages including UML and SysML.

Strong verbal and written communication skills to collaborate in a team and communicate technical information to colleagues, management, or sponsors.

Understanding of system interface requirements and requirements management.

Knowledge or recent experience integrating systems processes and/or software development methodologies for hardware or software-based systems.

Demonstrated ability to devise solutions for complex problems requiring in-depth analysis of tangible and intangible factors.

Experience working on multidisciplinary project teams with engineers, scientists, designers, and technicians.

Strong problem-solving and analytical abilities.

Proficiency with Microsoft Office products, including Office and SharePoint.

Qualifications Desired
-
Understanding of multi-segmented system architecture using tools such as MagicDraw, IBM Rational Rhapsody, Sparx EA, or Cameo EA Suite.

Proficiency with systems engineering modeling tools (e.g., CORE, Cameo Systems Modeler, MagicDraw, MapleMBSE) to support requirements, design, analysis, verification & validation, and lifecycle activities.

Knowledge of Java and JavaScript for macro development in EA tooling.

Understanding of version control and database management.

Engineering experience designing, assembling, or testing applicable military hardware.

Track record of delivering innovative solutions for complex multidisciplinary problems and implementing corrective actions as needed.
Education

Bachelor’s degree in a related field from an accredited college or university.

An additional four (4) years of related experience may substitute for a bachelor’s degree, for a total of seven (7) years in the labor category.

Clearance and Citizenship
-
Active Top Secret clearance with Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI) eligibility.

U.S. Citizenship is required.
