Mobile Trailer Mechanic

About the Role As a Mobile Technician II, you perform intermediate service and repair of JB Hunt tractors, trailers, chassis, containers or power equipment. This role operates outside of the shop from a mobile service truck, servicing equipment at customer sites or rail yards. What You'll Do

• Perform intermediate preventive maintenance and repairs, including tire replacements, brake repairs, electrical diagnostics and basic structural repairs on tractor or trailer equipment
• Troubleshoot and repair ABS system
• Properly operate the mobile service truck and attend to truck inventory
• Assist with onboarding and mentorship of tractor technician trainees
• Follow all safety requirements onsite and at customer locations
• Accurately complete work orders and other written materials according to established procedures
• Properly document damage to company equipment to estimate cost of repairs
• Demonstrate proficient use of a cutting torch and welding equipment to perform mid-level repairs on chassis, frames, and other equipment
• Patch holes in trailer or container side panels and roofs
• Perform annual AA trailer and FHWA brake inspections under direct supervision
• Shifts may vary based upon location and business needs What We're Looking For
• Minimum Qualifications: 18 years of age for equipment up to 10,000 lbs or 21 years of age for equipment over 10,000 lbs with 2 years of experience in semi-tractor or semi-trailer maintenance and repair, or equivalent combination of education and experience, or military equivalent
• Demonstration of the following skills and abilities through education, certifications, military, or other experiences
• Possess a clean motor vehicle record per J.B. Hunt guidelines
• Able to supply your own basic tools or purchase through our toolbox purchase program
• Willingness to work outdoors in the elements
• Able to work across multiple shifts, including nights and/or weekends, if needed Nice to Have
• High School Diploma or GED equivalent with 2 years of experience in semi-tractor or semi-trailer maintenance and repair, or equivalent combination of education and experience, or military equivalent
• DOT certified in FHWA inspections and air brakes, with 1 year experience conducting inspections
• Welding certification
• Forklift certification and experience
• EPA section 608 certification and refrigeration Compensation & Benefits
