Job title: Mobile Technician II

About the Role Under close supervision, this role performs basic services on tractors, trailers, chassis, containers, and power equipment at customer sites or rail yards using a mobile service truck. It may involve outdoor work, exposure to the elements, and shifts including nights/weekends, with overtime; full-time attendance is required.

What You'll Do

  • With guidance, perform basic preventive maintenance tasks including tire replacements/flat repairs, brake adjustments/services/replacements, electrical diagnostics, and basic structural repairs on trailer chassis/sub-frames.
  • Follow safety requirements while at customer sites or rail yards.
  • Operate the assigned service truck professionally and keep the unit clean and well stocked.
  • Accurately complete work orders and other written materials according to established procedures.
  • Properly document damage to company equipment to allow subrogation of repair costs.
  • Demonstrate basic use of a cutting torch and welding equipment; perform minor repairs on chassis, frames, and brackets.
  • Patch holes in trailer/container side panels and roofs, ensuring holes are sealed and watertight.
  • Perform annual AA Trailer and FHWA Brake Inspections under supervision of a certified technician as required.

What We're Looking For

  • Minimum Qualifications: 18 years of age for equipment up to 10,000 lbs or 21 years for equipment over 10,000 lbs; clean motor vehicle record per JB Hunt guidelines; able to supply own basic tools or purchase through toolbox program; willingness to work outdoors; ability to work across multiple shifts including nights/weekends.
  • Preferred qualifications: High School Diploma or GED, up to 1 year of semi-tractor/semi-trailer maintenance experience or military equivalent; at least 1 year of DOT/FHWA inspections and air brakes; welding and forklift certifications; EPA 608 certification and refrigeration license; strong computer skills and ability to manage multiple priorities; ability to work independently or as part of a team.
  • Additional capabilities: effective communication, time/resource management, and proficiency with Microsoft Office (PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook).

Nice to Have

  • Welding certification; Forklift certification and experience; DOT/FHWA inspections experience; EPA 608 certification and refrigeration license; additional IT/computer skills.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Sign-on bonus: $3,000 available for a limited time.
