Your Role

As a Mobile SDET Lead - Retail/eCommerce Automation at Capgemini, you will lead the design, implementation, and execution of automation testing solutions across mobile and digital commerce platforms. You will be responsible for driving automation-first quality practices for native mobile applications (iOS and Android), mobile web experiences, and API services supporting retail and eCommerce customer journeys.

This role requires strong expertise in mobile automation frameworks, quality engineering, and retail business processes. You will collaborate with product owners, developers, architects, and QA teams while guiding offshore testing teams to ensure high-quality, scalable, and reliable releases across digital channels.

Responsibilities & Scope

• Lead mobile test automation initiatives for iOS, Android, Mobile Web, and API testing.
• Design, develop, and maintain scalable automation frameworks using Appium, Java, Selenium WebDriver, and related technologies.
• Create and execute automated functional, regression, smoke, integration, and end-to-end test suites.
• Validate critical retail and eCommerce customer journeys including product search, catalog browsing, cart management, checkout, payments, promotions, loyalty programs, order tracking, and fulfillment.
• Develop and execute API automation tests using REST-based services and automation frameworks.
• Analyze business and technical requirements to define test scenarios and optimize test coverage.
• Execute tests across QA, UAT, staging, and pre-production environments.
• Support defect triage activities, root-cause analysis, and quality improvement initiatives.
• Integrate automated test suites into CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions, Jenkins, Azure DevOps, or equivalent tools.
• Collaborate with cross-functional Agile teams to ensure quality throughout the software development lifecycle.
• Mentor and provide technical guidance to offshore automation engineers and testing teams.
• Promote automation best practices, framework standardization, and continuous quality engineering improvements.

Required Qualifications

• 5-8 years of experience in QA Automation, Software Development Engineer in Test (SDET), or similar quality engineering roles.
• Strong hands-on experience with Appium, Java, Selenium WebDriver, TestNG/JUnit, and Cucumber (BDD).
• Experience with Playwright or equivalent modern automation frameworks.
• Proven experience testing native mobile applications on both iOS and Android platforms.
• Experience executing tests on real devices and cloud-based device platforms such as BrowserStack, LambdaTest, or Sauce Labs.
• Strong experience in API testing and automation using REST Assured, Postman, or similar tools.
• Experience with Git, Jenkins, GitHub Actions, Azure DevOps, Maven, Gradle, and Jira.
• Strong understanding of Object-Oriented Programming (OOP), Page Object Model (POM), and automation framework design principles.
• Experience implementing and maintaining automated testing within CI/CD pipelines.
• Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and communication skills.
• Experience working in Agile delivery environments.

Retail/eCommerce Domain Expertise (Must Have)

• 3+ years of experience supporting Retail and eCommerce applications.
