About this role

About the Role Xylem is seeking an experienced and self-motivated Mobile Diesel Technician to join the service team. This field role travels to customer locations to perform preventive maintenance, diagnostics, repairs, and emergency service on diesel-powered pump equipment, supporting uninterrupted water solutions for customers.

What You'll Do

  • Travel to customer sites using a company-provided service vehicle.
  • Diagnose, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain diesel-powered pump equipment and related mechanical systems.
  • Perform scheduled preventive maintenance (PM) to maximize equipment reliability.
  • Respond to emergency service calls to minimize downtime.
  • Inspect equipment and identify potential issues before failures.
  • Complete service reports, work orders, and required documentation accurately and timely.
  • Maintain inventory of service parts, tools, and supplies in the company vehicle.
  • Communicate professionally with customers regarding equipment condition, repair recommendations, and maintenance needs.
  • Follow all company safety procedures and maintain a safe work environment.
  • Keep the company service vehicle clean, organized, and maintained.

What We're Looking For

  • 3+ years of diesel technician, heavy equipment, industrial equipment, or automotive technician experience.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude with diagnostic and troubleshooting abilities.
  • Experience working on diesel engines, hydraulic systems, pumps, or industrial equipment.
  • Automotive technicians with strong diagnostic experience encouraged to apply.
  • Ability to work independently in the field without direct supervision.
  • Strong electrical and mechanical troubleshooting skills.
  • Ability to read service manuals, wiring diagrams, and technical documentation.
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills.
  • Basic computer or tablet skills for completing service documentation.

Nice to Have

  • Experience servicing industrial pumps or pump systems.
  • Diesel engine certifications (ASE, OEM, or equivalent).
  • Hydraulic and electrical diagnostic experience.
  • CDL is a plus but not required.
