About this role

About the Role The Avigilon Alta Video team powers the mission-critical infrastructure that underpins our VMS. We’re evolving the platform to support deep-tier interconnection across Motorola’s product portfolio. Our Edinburgh city-center office supports a hybrid working model with a target of two days in the office. What You'll Do

  • Develop, maintain, and execute automated tests within established frameworks (e.g., TypeScript/Playwright) across UI, API, and backend systems.
  • Specialised Mobile Automation: develop and execute automated test scripts for iOS and Android, integrating mobile tests with emulators, simulators, and real-device clouds into the delivery pipeline.
  • Drive Mission-Critical Quality Assurance by validating cutting-edge solutions for public safety and enterprise security.
  • Collaborate with senior engineers to support continuous quality benchmarks for real-time systems and new AI features. What We're Looking For
  • Collaborative team player aligned with core values.
  • Develop, execute, and maintain automated test scripts in established frameworks.
  • Actively contribute to CI/CD pipelines to enable frequent, high-quality releases.
  • Proficiency in a modern programming language and core engineering principles.
  • Proven expertise in iOS/Android mobile testing with cross-platform tools (Appium) or native frameworks (XCUITest, Espresso) and languages like Python, JavaScript, or TypeScript.
  • Experience testing and automating UI and API workflows.
  • Solid troubleshooting and debugging skills.
  • Familiarity with CI/CD principles and practical experience in CI/CD pipelines. Nice to Have
  • Hands-on experience with TypeScript/Playwright.
  • Soak or performance testing methodologies and tools.
  • Jenkins or similar scheduling/integration tools.
  • Exposure to video platforms, streaming technologies, or media solutions.
  • Experience in hardware automation.
  • Understanding of application state patterns and data flows (Pinia, Vuex, Redux).
  • RESTful API, websockets, and general web development principles.
  • Engineering mindset with data structures/algorithms and design patterns.
  • Collaboration and teamwork; willingness to work with others.
  • Resilient, scalable systems; willingness to test and maintain.
  • Remote culture: distributed across geographies; happy to work remotely part of the week. Compensation & Benefits
