MJF Part Finisher/Assembly Technician

Volt is immediately hiring a Parts Finisher for an ITAR-certified 3D printing manufacturing company in Carlsbad.

SUMMARY:

The MJF Part Finisher/Assembly Technician is responsible for finishing parts per the Job Sheet requirements and/or supplied drawings. Parts are to be finished at a high quality and must meet customer expectations.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Perform light assembly operations according to work instructions, drawings, and quality requirements.

• Drill holes in plastic and/or manufactured components using hand drills, drill presses, fixtures, and specified tooling.

• Install dowel pins, alignment pins, and other small hardware into components.

• Install light pipes and similar plastic or optical components while preventing damage, scratching, or improper orientation.

• Use hand tools such as drills, drivers, presses, pliers, cutters, gauges, and other basic assembly tools.

• Use assembly fixtures and jigs to ensure proper component location and alignment.

• Inspect completed assemblies for proper fit, orientation, appearance, and workmanship.

• Verify drilled-hole locations, depths, and diameters when required.

• Perform basic deburring and cleanup after drilling or assembly operations.

• Identify and report defective or nonconforming components.

• Follow established work instructions, quality procedures, and safety requirements.

• Maintain accurate production counts and required documentation.

• Keep the work area clean, organized, and free of unnecessary material.

• Handle components carefully to prevent cosmetic or functional damage.

• Meet established production, quality, and efficiency expectations.

• Perform other light manufacturing and assembly duties as assigned.

• MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: (The following qualifications can be acquired and demonstrated through experience, education and/or vocational training as noted or as appropriate.)

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.

• Previous manufacturing, assembly, or production experience preferred but not required.

• Comfortable using basic hand tools and power tools.

• Ability to follow written work instructions and visual assembly guides.

• Basic ability to read drawings, dimensions, and measurements preferred.

• Good hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity.

• Strong attention to detail.

• Ability to perform repetitive assembly tasks while maintaining consistent quality.

• Physical Requirements

• Ability to stand or sit for extended periods.

• Ability to perform repetitive hand and wrist movements.

• Ability to handle small components and hardware.

• Ability to lift and move up to 25 lbs. as needed.

• Ability to safely operate basic hand tools and light production equipment.

• Ability to visually inspect small features and assembled components.

• Preferred Skills

• Experience drilling plastic or additively manufactured components.

• Experience installing dowel pins, press-fit components, inserts, or similar hardware.

• Experience with light pipes, lenses, or small plastic components.

• Familiarity with drill presses, arbor presses, assembly fixtures, and gauges.

• Basic understanding of manufacturing quality standards.

• Experience working in a production or additive manufacturing environment.

• Communication skills: Ability to write clearly and informatively. Ability to communicate and provide feedback to other department employees. Ability to work as a team.
