Job title: Millwright M/F

About the Role Millwrights are responsible for assembling, installing, and maintaining heavy mechanical equipment and/or machinery used in the manufacturing process. The role requires reading blueprints and schematic drawings to determine work procedures and performing maintenance to minimize downtime and extend equipment life. Based in South Africa, the Millwright will help the plant operate at maximum efficiency with minimal downtime.

What You'll Do

  • Inspect, install, align, commission, repair, diagnose, inspect and dismantle stationary machinery and mechanical equipment
  • Operate machine tools to fabricate parts required during overhaul, maintenance and setup
  • Adjust, repair or replace defective parts; calibrate and test equipment
  • Align and test equipment to ensure optimal performance; perform planned and preventative maintenance
  • Clean, lubricate and maintain machinery; address breakdowns with minimal downtime
  • Conduct risk assessments and ensure health, safety and environmental standards are adhered to
  • Document test results, provide feedback on plant equipment, and support continuous improvement
  • Track machine problems and plant facilities (air, water, electricity) on a weekly basis

What We're Looking For

  • Minimum qualification: Qualified Millwright / Red Seal Qualification or Trade Test in all disciplines (N4 preferred)
  • Essential duties include inspecting, installing, maintaining, troubleshooting and commissioning heavy machinery
  • Technical prerequisites: excellent manual dexterity; ability to read technical documents such as specifications, machine manuals and blueprints; MS Office proficiency; electrical fault finding; PLC knowledge; basic robotics; mechanical and hydraulic systems understanding
  • Personal attributes: attention to detail, team player, strong problem solving skills, good communication, able to work independently

Nice to Have

  • Preferred: Minimum of 5 years relevant experience in Automotive Manufacturing or manufacturing environment
  • Additional: experience with continuous improvement initiatives and safety/risk assessment documentation
