About the Role The Middle School Gifted and Talented Teacher at NC Virtual Academy (NCVA), a Stride K12 partner, is a highly qualified, state-certified educator responsible for delivering specific course content in an online environment. Teachers provide instruction, support, and guidance, manage the learning process, and focus on students’ individual needs. They monitor student progress through Stride K12’s learning management system and work closely with students and parents/learning coaches to advance each student’s learning toward established goals. This is a full-time, remote role with occasional travel for school functions.

What You'll Do

  • Provide rich and engaging synchronous and asynchronous learning experiences for students
  • Personalize learning for all students, differentiate instruction based on mastery, and manage the learning process
  • Maintain grade book, monitor student progress, make placement and promotion decisions, and alert administrators to concerns
  • Prepare students for high-stakes standardized tests
  • Communicate regularly with families and learning coaches and respond in a timely manner
  • Support learning coaches with curricular and instructional issues, and provide basic troubleshooting in a virtual classroom
  • Travel approximately 20% of the time for face-to-face professional development and student testing as required by the school
  • Collaborate with other teachers to interpret and use student data to drive instructional decisions
  • Maintain a professional home office and typical work hours (about 9-5 or 8-4, per school definitions)

What We're Looking For

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Active state teaching license
  • Ability to clear required background check

  • Experience with the proposed age group
  • Experience supporting adults and children in the use of technology
  • Experience teaching online or in a brick-and-mortar environment
  • Experience with online learning platforms
  • Ability to work collaboratively to interpret and use student data
  • Receptive to coaching from administrators and teacher trainers
  • Ability to adapt to change and drive strong student outcomes
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Outlook, Word, PowerPoint
  • Ability to rapidly learn and adapt to new technologies and platforms
  • Ability to maintain teacher certification/professional development hours and fluency in K12 systems, programs, and curriculum

Compensation & Benefits

  • Salary: $46,000 per year, with eligibility for a performance bonus
  • This position is virtual/remote and primarily work-from-home
