About this role

About the Role Kiewit Infrastructure Engineering has an immediate opening for a mid-level Geotechnical Engineer to join our Construction Engineering Services group in Burnaby, BC. The selected candidate will work with an interdisciplinary team to identify geotechnical risks and develop designs to facilitate construction across a full range of challenging projects in Canada.

What You'll Do

  • Provide project support during the build phase, collaborating with team members to identify and evaluate innovative, cost-effective geotechnical design solutions.
  • Undertake and/or coordinate geotechnical designs and input to the designs of temporary structures in support of ongoing construction.
  • Work with the pursuit team during the proposal/bid phase to identify key design risks and develop plans to mitigate risks.
  • Work on EPC/design-build projects to develop design recommendations and produce design deliverables.
  • Train and develop staff engineers.

What We're Looking For

  • Master's degree in Geotechnical Engineering (preferable).
  • Total of 8 years of geotechnical engineering experience with a minimum of 4 years of progressive geotechnical design experience in the infrastructure market.
  • Registered or eligible to register as a Professional Engineer in British Columbia.
  • Broad technical knowledge of geotechnical engineering solutions including design of deep foundations, shallow foundations, evaluating slope stability, earth retention and support of excavations, settlement of compressible soils, ground improvement techniques, dewatering, working surfaces, and pile drivability.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with a focus on interdisciplinary design coordination and collaboration with Engineering and Construction teams.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to build rapport and lead teams.
  • Willingness and ability to travel to project sites; physical ability to access construction sites.
  • Experience with AI agents and tools preferred.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Base compensation: $115,000 - $145,000 per year.
