Job Position: Mid Level Female Accountant

Responsibilties
Job Costing & Project Accounting:
- Cost Code Tracking: Monitor and allocate project expenses (materials, labor, equipment, and subcontractor costs) to specific job cost codes.
- Work-in-Progress (WIP) Reporting: Prepare and maintain WIP schedules to track percentage of completion, earned revenue, and cost overruns/underruns.
- Budget vs. Actual Variance Analysis: Collaborate with project managers to compare actual expenditures against baseline construction budgets and analyze variances.
Subcontractor Management & Accounts Payable:
- Subcontractor Billing & Retainage: Review, verify, and process subcontractor payment applications (including AIA G702/G703 forms where applicable); manage retainage payables.
- Lien Waiver Compliance: Collect, verify, and archive conditional and unconditional lien waivers from subcontractors and suppliers prior to disbursing payments.
- Vendor Payables: Process vendor invoices, match purchase orders (POs) with delivery receipts, and manage weekly/monthly payment runs.
Accounts Receivable & Progress Billing:
- Client Invoicing: Draft and submit client progress billings, schedule of values (SOV), and change order billings according to contract terms.
- Retainage Receivables Tracking: Monitor outstanding retainage amounts and ensure timely invoicing upon project completion or certificate of occupancy.
- Collections & Aging Management: Track client payment statuses, follow up on overdue receivables, and maintain accounts receivable aging reports.
Payroll & Site Labor Management:
- Certified Payroll & Timekeeping: Process or oversee weekly site payroll, including wage rates, overtime, fringe benefits, and statutory deductions.
- Compliance: Ensure adherence to labor regulations and statutory requirements (e.g., pension, taxes, insurance).
Financial Reporting, Tax & Compliance:
- General Ledger & Month-End Close: Prepare journal entries, perform monthly bank reconciliations, and close project ledgers.
- Financial Statements: Assist the Finance Manager/CFO in preparing balance sheets, profit & loss statements, and cash flow forecasts.
- Tax & Audit Support: Assist in preparing VAT, withholding tax (WHT), and corporate income tax filings; provide schedules and documentation during annual audits.
Key Qualifications & Competencies
- Education & Credentials: Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. Professional certifications (e.g., ACCA, ICAN, CPA) are an advantage.
- Experience: 3–5 years of accounting experience, with at least 2 years in the construction, real estate, or engineering sector.
- Software Proficiency: Hands-on experience with construction accounting software (e.g., Sage 100 Contractor / Sage 300 CRE, QuickBooks Contractor Edition, Odoo, or ERP Systems) and advanced MS Excel skills.
- Industry Knowledge: Solid grasp of contract accounting (percentage-of-completion method), retainage management, and construction compliance regulations.
Salary
N300,000 - N350,000 monthly.
