Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain core banking services covering customers, accounts, savings products, transactions, limits, holds, liens, and double-entry ledger functionality.
- Develop and customise Apache Fineract using its extension points, custom modules, business events, and close-of-business processes without unnecessarily forking the core platform.
- Build secure, scalable, and versioned REST APIs for use across the Bank's digital channels and internal systems.
- Implement reliable transaction processing with strong controls around idempotency, concurrency, data consistency, and error handling.
- Integrate event-driven services using Kafka or similar messaging technologies to support real-time account and transaction events.
- Design and optimise database structures, queries, transactions, and migrations using PostgreSQL or MySQL.
Requirements

3+ years of professional backend development experience, with strong experience in Java and Spring Boot.

Proven hands-on experience with Apache Fineract or Mifos X is highly required.

Demonstrable experience building, customising, extending, or integrating Fineract-based core banking solutions.

Strong understanding of core banking, financial systems, payments, wallets, ledgers, or transaction processing.

Deep understanding of double-entry accounting, financial ledgers, database transactions, concurrency, and idempotency.

Experience designing and developing secure and scalable REST APIs.

Experience with event-driven architecture and technologies such as Apache Kafka,

Experience with Docker, CI/CD pipelines, and cloud environments such as AWS is an advantage.

Knowledge of Nigerian banking requirements, including NUBAN, BVN, tiered KYC, transaction limits, and relevant CBN requirements, is an advantage.
