Job title: Microbiologist I
About the Role The Microbiologist I at IFF, based in Madison, WI, is part of the Health & Biosciences team. This role supports routine laboratory testing, adheres to ISO 22000, NSF, and GLP guidelines, and contributes to delivering safe, high-quality products.
What You'll Do
- Adhere to quality systems including ISO 22000, NSF, and GLP, following IFF’s Quality Policy and procedures.
- Perform routine laboratory testing and document results in the SAP Quality Management module.
- Reference and utilize laboratory standards, materials, and documentation to ensure correct execution of testing.
- Calibrate, maintain, and use laboratory equipment per departmental procedures.
- Apply Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) for proper care, handling, and storage of food and dietary supplements.
- Conduct environmental sampling following established protocols.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and compliant laboratory environment by following and enforcing all laboratory safety procedures.
- Collaborate effectively within the team and support cross-functional quality initiatives as needed.
What We're Looking For
- Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Microbiology, Biology, or a related scientific field — or an associate degree with at least one year of relevant laboratory experience.
- Knowledge of analytical methods and testing performed within the Quality Control (QC) department.
- Ability to work independently and as a contributing member of a team.
- Strong mathematical skills and clear written and verbal communication abilities.
- Ability to comply with laboratory safety standards, including PPE.
- Comfortable working 95–100% of the time in a laboratory setting.
- Ability to work overtime as needed.
Nice to Have
- Prior experience performing environmental sampling or microbiological testing.
- Familiarity with SAP Quality Management or similar laboratory information systems.
- Demonstrated ability to work in fast-paced, highly regulated environments.
