About the Role The Mgr, Software Engineering will lead the software design and development processes for imaging systems pivotal to national defense in Northampton, MA. This leadership role drives end-to-end software development and provides mentorship to a high-performing team delivering mission-ready solutions. What You'll Do

  • Lead the software design and development processes including requirements analysis, specifications, design, implementation and development.
  • Drive efficient software development processes and best practices; perform code and design reviews.
  • Collaborate with other software managers as well as Electrical, Systems Engineering managers, and Program Chief Engineering to optimize assignments across the development organization.
  • Identify and establish development processes and standards to enhance productivity and performance.
  • Provide mentorship, coaching and guidance to team members with respect to career development and opportunities for growth.
  • Contribute to development on projects as required.
  • Conduct performance evaluations of engineers.
  • Manage the recruitment interview and hiring process for additional software engineers.
  • Participate in Engineering Proposal cost estimation and Basis of Estimate efforts.
  • Manage matrix organization manpower allocation. What We're Looking For
  • US Citizen, able to obtain and maintain a DoD clearance and obtain additional clearances as required.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Software, Computer, or Electrical Engineering with a minimum of 12 years of prior related experience. Master’s degree desired but not required with a minimum of 10 years of prior related experience. In lieu of a degree, a minimum of 16 years of prior related experience.
  • Requires broad management and leadership knowledge to lead cross-department project teams or manage across the function.
  • Experience with recruiting and hiring technical talent.
  • Experience developing technical and cost volume inputs for proposals.
  • Experience as a Cost Account Manager utilizing EVMS, Program execution lifecycle.
  • Able to travel up to 10%. Nice to Have
  • Experience working within an Agile development environment; Scrum Team certification and/or experience.
  • Experience leading proposal development and Basis of Estimate generation.
  • Development experience in Real Time embedded software, Information Assurance, video communications, embedded interfaces (I2C, RS232, CAN, Ethernet), Safety Critical systems.
  • Experience with DevOps process, tools, and procedures is highly desirable. Compensation & Benefits
  • Salary range: $148,000 - $205,000 per year.
