About the Role ALS is hiring a Metals Analyst to conduct instrumental analysis of environmental samples using ICP, ICP-MS, CVAAS, and AFS technologies. The role involves preparing standards and reagents, tuning, calibrating, and running analytical sequences, processing data, troubleshooting instruments, and ensuring quality control and safety.
What You'll Do
- Prepare standards and reagents.
- Tune, calibrate, and run analytical sequences per SOPs.
- Learn and utilize computer software and systems required to process data.
- Troubleshoot analytical systems (instrumental and sample preparation non-conformities).
- Ensure accurate document results in controlled logbooks, bench sheets, etc.
- Develop an understanding of quality control and QC requirements.
- Recognize and maintain safe working conditions. Handle hazardous materials appropriately and safely. Use appropriate safety equipment.
- Maintain a clean, orderly work environment.
- Other duties as assigned.
What We're Looking For
- 4-year Degree in chemistry or related field.
- Strong computer skills with knowledge of Excel and Microsoft Word.
- Multi-tasked, organized, and detail oriented.
- Proficient English verbal and written communication skills with the ability to communicate with staff, management and clients in a professional manner.
- Able to work well in a team and has problem solving capabilities.
- Knowledge of working in a laboratory environment is very helpful.
- Must develop an understanding of quality control and the requirements of quality control.
- Recognize and maintain safe working conditions. Handle hazardous material appropriately and safely. Use appropriate safety equipment.
- Maintain a clean, orderly work environment.
Nice to Have
- Experience working in a laboratory setting; familiarity with environmental analysis is a plus.
