About this role
Through an internal promotion, an opportunity has arisen to lead one of GPC’s core automotive categories. As Merchandise Manager – Workshop Consumables, you will have end-to-end accountability for category strategy, sales, profitability and team leadership.
This opportunity would suit an experienced, commercially driven Category or Merchandise Manager from a high-volume retail, trade, FMCG or wholesale environment. You will bring strong category management expertise, commercial acumen, people leadership and supplier management capability, with a proven track record of turning strategy into execution and delivering profitable growth.
Duties and responsibilities include:
Working across both Retail and Trade channels, supporting both Repco NAPA businesses across Australia and New Zealand.
Building strong supplier and internal stakeholder relationships
Leading and developing a small category team
Setting and executing category strategy
Identifying market and product growth opportunities
Delivering sales, margin, and profitability targets
Managing category budgets and pricing strategies
Conducting range reviews and assortment optimization
About you:
You are a commercially astute leader with a strong track record of driving sales, profitability and category growth and building strong, strategic supplier partnerships. You bring energy, curiosity and a genuine ability to connect with people, balanced with strong strategic and analytical capability. A confident communicator, you lead and engage teams and stakeholders to deliver exceptional customer and commercial outcomes.
To be successful in this role, you will have:
Commercially astute with demonstrable previous experience in Category Management roles.
The ability to effectively balance competing priorities and drive performance across both Retail and Trade channels.
Strategic, customer-focused thinking and strong planning capability.
Strong leadership skills and a proven ability in developing high-performing teams in Category Manager or Merchandise Manager roles.
Energy, enthusiasm, and a positive approach that helps engage and inspire those around you.
Creativity and a willingness to challenge conventional thinking to unlock new opportunities.
Excellent communication, influencing, and stakeholder management skills.
A curious mindset and a drive to identify new opportunities for growth and improvement.
