Job title: Mentor, Roc Nation Early Scholars Program
About the Role The Roc Nation School seeks passionate LIU students to guide high schoolers in the Early Scholars Program as they take LIU classes in sports and music. Mentors provide guidance and encouragement to help students succeed as they transition into their college careers. Start date is as soon as possible.
What You'll Do
- Conduct regular check-ins with Early Scholars to provide support, escort students to IT for portal access, and assist with course registration.
- Provide academic support to help students navigate their coursework and responsibilities.
- Join program outings to facilitate student participation and safety during immersive industry experiences such as Broadway shows and sports events.
- Foster a welcoming and inclusive environment to help students integrate into the university community.
- Serve as a positive role model for high school students participating in ESP.
- Encourage students to participate in university events.
What We're Looking For
- Enrolled and in good standing at LIU, demonstrating strong academic performance through GPA and classroom engagement.
- Passion for sports, music, or entertainment with a desire to help high school students succeed.
- Prior experience in mentoring, tutoring, or leadership roles is preferred.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to relate to high school students and foster a supportive environment.
- Commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion.

- Prior mentoring, tutoring, or leadership experience is preferred.
Compensation & Benefits
- Salary: $17 per hour.
- Hours: approximately eight hours per week, with an annual cap of 230 hours.
- Location: on LIU’s Brooklyn Campus (onsite).
