About the Role The Mental Health Associate I provides direct patient care to patients with mental health disorders in an inpatient behavioral health setting. This role supports treatment planning and implementation and helps facilitate groups to promote safety and recovery. What You'll Do
- Facilitates didactic, educational and unit/program community groups within the assigned treatment programs.
- Encourages and facilitates patients’ participation in therapeutic activities.
- Supervises patients to ensure their safety and involvement in treatment.
- Provides one-to-one supervision to maintain patient safety.
- Conducts unit rounds and completes precautions records in real time, ensuring proper labeling.
- Orients new patients to unit, program and milieu; builds rapport with patients and families.
- Provides appropriate handoff information when accepting patients from other units.
- Participates in treatment planning with the interdisciplinary team and contributes input into discharge planning.
- Completes patient, program, and department documentation.
- Performs clerical and administrative tasks to support department operations.
- Monitors patient progress and communicates updates to the charge nurse/shift lead and family members. What We're Looking For
- Bachelor’s Degree or higher in a Behavioral Health related field (no previous experience) or Bachelor’s Degree or higher in a non-Behavioral Health field with a minimum of one year of behavioral health experience.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and professional boundaries; willingness to seek supervision.
- CPR certification (AHA or Red Cross) and CPI certification within 90 days of hire.
- Valid driver’s license if performing off-site duties; maintain automobile liability coverage if using a personal vehicle.
- CPI (Crisis Prevention Intervention) within 90 days of hire; CPR current. Nice to Have
- Familiarity with medical and psychological terminology.
- Skills in teaching or assisting with activities of daily living.
- Prior experience with therapeutic limit-setting and milieu management. Compensation & Benefits
- Salary: $24.86 - $37.29 per hour (USD)
