Overview
Microsoft AI is hiring an Engineering Manager to lead full-stack engineering teams building new capabilities for Copilot, Microsoft's AI assistant. This is a highly technical leadership role where you'll both manage engineers and contribute hands-on to coding and system architecture.
The team works across the entire AI evaluation platform, including:
- Data sampling
- AI data collection and processing
- Data analysis and evaluation
- Dashboards and insights
The role spans backend, frontend, databases, browser automation, AI tooling, statistical analysis, and prompt engineering.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead, hire, mentor, and manage software engineering teams.
- Build AI-powered experiences for Copilot used by millions of users.
- Collaborate with Product, Design, and Engineering leaders to define priorities.
- Write, review, and maintain production-quality code.
- Lead architecture and technical design decisions.
- Ensure software is secure, scalable, reliable, and maintainable.
- Build testing strategies, automation, and CI/CD processes.
- Plan feature roadmaps and coordinate delivery across teams.
Required Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field (or equivalent experience).

6+ years of software engineering experience.

Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's + 10+ years of engineering experience or

Compensation
Software Engineering M5
- US: $142,800–$274,800
- SF Bay Area / NYC: $188,000–$304,200
Software Engineering M6 (depending on experience)
- US: $165,600–$296,400
- SF Bay Area / NYC: $220,800–$331,200
Additional compensation may include bonuses, stock awards, and Microsoft's benefits package.
Work Arrangement
- Hybrid role requiring 4 days per week in the office (effective January 26, 2026 for employees living within the specified distance of a Microsoft office).
- Less than 25% travel.
