About this role
The role
Mundo AI builds the real-world datasets that AI research labs use to train their models. When a researcher asks for something like 1,000 hours of people debating politics, you make it happen.
You turn a lab's data request into a live production. That means being a research thought partner, recruiting participants, booking venues and equipment, running the schedule, and delivering data researchers love. It's on-site in Vancouver and high-ownership. This is a front-office client facing role.
One of our best people used to throw raves professionally. If you've ever pulled off something complicated with a hard deadline and a lot of moving parts, you'll feel at home here.
What you'll do
-
Run data productions end to end. You'll take a research request and turn it into a plan with a budget, a timeline, staffing, and a list of the logistics, then deliver on it.
-
Find and manage participants. You'll source the right people for each dataset, whether that's students, specialists, or performers. You'll also handle their contracts, scheduling, and day-to-day experience.
-
Handle venues, equipment, and vendors. You'll book spaces, rent audio and video gear, arrange catering, and negotiate with suppliers.
-
Own quality. You'll develop an eye for what makes data good and build that standard into how sessions are run, recorded, and reviewed.
-
Partner with researchers. You'll work directly with our clients to understand what they need, set expectations, and spot opportunities to do more together.
-
Build the playbook. You'll turn each production into repeatable processes, templates, and vendor relationships so the next one goes faster.
What we're looking for
-
At least 2 years of full-time work experience. Between 2 and 5 years is our sweet spot.
-
A track record of organizing complex things. You should have owned events, productions, campaigns, programs, or projects from start to finish, with real budgets, hard deadlines, and many people involved.
-
Clear evidence that you've excelled somewhere competitive. That could be a top academic record, a scholarship, an elected leadership role, a top performance ranking at work, or admission to a selective program.
-
Calm, resourceful execution. When the venue falls through the night before, you already have a plan B.
-
Strong communication. You're comfortable working directly with researchers, vendors, and dozens of participants, often all in the same week.
-
You're based in Vancouver, or willing to relocate, and able to work on-site for productions.
Bonus points
-
Creative taste. You have a strong sense of what makes something good, whether it's a recording, a film, a performance, or a conversation.
-
Business instincts. You've worked directly with clients, managed accounts, or helped grow a relationship.
-
Hands-on technical skills. You have experience with audio engineering, AV setup, or production equipment.
-
Experience at a startup or in a fast-moving, scrappy environment.
You might come from
People who thrive here usually come from one of two backgrounds. You don't need either one if you can show us the same strengths.
-
The high-achieving organizer. You may have run a student society, managed an election campaign, worked as a political staffer, been a consultant who ran the logistics, or worked as a program or events coordinator. You love bringing order to chaos, and people trust you with the big stuff.
-
The creative producer. You may have been a production manager or coordinator in film and TV, an audio engineer, a festival or live-event producer, or a musician who ran your own tours and releases. You bring taste and technical chops, and you've also excelled academically or professionally.
