About the Role Join Siemens Healthineers as a Medical Physicist in Myrtle Beach, SC, working within a community cancer center alongside physicians, physicists, dosimetrists, and therapists to deliver advanced, high-quality patient care. The role focuses on dosimetry, QA, treatment planning, safety, and regulatory compliance.
What You'll Do
- Calibration of dose meters (including dosimetric inter-comparisons for QA) and radiation equipment (accelerator MU calibration); beam data acquisition for treatment planning; data preparation for treatment planning systems
- Development/improvement of dose measurement systems and software for dosimetry (spreadsheets and databases)
- Ensure compliance with Federal, State and organizational regulations for radiation safety
- Participate in organizational Performance Improvement activities, policies and procedures to meet regulatory requirements
- Assist in Acceptance testing and commissioning of new machines and re-commissioning after major maintenance
- Perform individual treatment planning, dosimetry calculations, and treatment planning reviews (physics component)
- Provide physics consultation to radiation oncology personnel and physicians
- Ensure routine verification of department treatment planning system; collaborate with information services for software management
- Assist in planning and shielding calculations for new facilities/programs
- Interpret and prepare documentation of regulatory changes for departmental operations
- Provide dosimetry checks following source changes; assist with selection and acquisition of sources for permanent implants
- Collaborate with department director and Physics director on clinical education, training, and competency evaluations for medical physics, dosimetry, and therapy staff
What We're Looking For
- Located or willing to relocate to Myrtle Beach, SC or surrounding area
- M.S. or PhD (preferred) in Medical Physics, or a closely related field, required
- Minimum of 2+ years clinical experience in addition to a CAMPEP accredited residency
- ABR Part-I and (possibly) Part-II Exams preferred
- HDR and SRS program experience preferred
- Computer system administration experience with patient record and verify database applications desirable
- Certification in Radiation Oncology Physics by the ABR or other certifying body (preferred)
- Candidates who are not certified must be eligible for board certification and must achieve this status within 3 years of hire
- Must apply for and maintain relevant State licensing and/or registration as required for working as a medical physicist at the clinical site
Nice to Have
- HDR and SRS program experience preferred
- Computer system administration experience with patient record and verify database applications desirable

- Salary range: $140,390 - $193,039 per year (USD)
