Medical Laboratory Technician

About the Role Medical Laboratory Technician to support the Air Force Facility at Nellis AFB in Las Vegas, NV. This is a non-exempt, full-time role with a total hourly pay of $36.05 for up to 40 hours per week (base $30.96 plus $5.09 Health & Welfare). The position involves performing a full range of clinical lab tests across multiple sections and ensuring quality control and safety in a government-contracted setting. What You'll Do

• Perform a full range of clinical laboratory tests in hematology, chemistry, cytology, histotechnology, urinalysis, serology, microbiology bacteriology, and immunohematology.
• Collect specimens and determine the best method for drawing blood samples from patients ranging from infant to geriatric with varying health statuses.
• Determine the suitability of specimens for analysis; prepare specimens for analysis; and maintain the physiologic state of the properties.
• Prepare reagents and primary reference materials as necessary.
• Calibrate, standardize, adjust, and maintain instruments; verify correct instrument operation using established procedures and quality control checks.
• Identify causes of common problems and make simple repairs; recognize indicators of malfunction and locate/corrects where needed.
• Obtain analytical data, convert to a prescribed unit of reporting, and correlate data to verify results.
• Train designated staff on all facets of laboratory operations as required.
• Conduct quality control procedures on equipment, reagents and products and maintain proper records for quality control and quality assurance reports.
• Check-in, document, order, and maintain appropriate electronic medical information that support the hard copy medical record by utilizing the approved Laboratory Information System.
• Elevate concerns to lab management; adhere to all local, state, national and federal safety and accreditation procedures.
• Schedule Sunday – Saturday with 8-10 hour shifts between 0001 and 2400. Shifts are normally 9 hours with an uncompensated 60-minute lunch break. Normal shifts are Monday to Friday; may be asked to provide patient care on weekends.
• Travel may be required. What We're Looking For
• Graduate from a medical laboratory technician training program accredited by NAACLS or ABHES or educational program acceptable to AMT.
• Certification/registration as determined by ASCP or AMT.
• One year of experience after graduation.
• Computer skills including Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
• Travel may be required.
• Must have authorization to work in the United States as defined by the Immigration Reform Act of 1986. Compensation & Benefits
