About the Role The Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS) at Highland Park Hospital performs moderate- to high‑complexity testing in a CLIA‑regulated laboratory. This part‑time role emphasizes solving technical and interdepartmental problems, identifying issues that may affect test performance or reporting, and ensuring accurate results while collaborating with a multidisciplinary team.
What You'll Do
- Solve technical and interdepartmental problems related to the Laboratory areas
- Identify problems that may adversely affect test performance or reporting and take corrective action or notify appropriate supervisory personnel
- Demonstrate good communication and organizational skills
- Demonstrate the ability to work cooperatively with others
- Perform testing per CLIA requirements and maintain competency as a Laboratory Associate as applicable
What We're Looking For
- Education: Associate's degree and the requisite courses to meet CLIA requirements for moderate to high complexity testing
- Certification: MLT (ASCP) certification or equivalent and ongoing active certification is strongly preferred
- Experience:
- Internal MLT Candidate: Two (2) years of experience at NorthShore performing moderate to high complexity testing beyond POC/Waived testing with an achieved competency level of a Laboratory Associate
- External MLT Candidate: Four (4) years of experience in a comparable healthcare setting of moderate to high complexity testing beyond POC/Waived testing with an achieved competency level of a Laboratory Associate
- Strong communication, organizational, and teamwork abilities
Compensation & Benefits
- Salary: $30.46 - $45.69 per hour
