Job Summary
- We are seeking a competent and detail-oriented Medical Laboratory Scientist to join our team.
- The ideal candidate will perform laboratory investigations, ensure accurate and timely reporting of results, maintain quality standards, and support clinicians in delivering excellent patient care.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform laboratory tests in accordance with established standards and protocols.
- Collect, process, analyze, and report laboratory specimens accurately and promptly.
- Operate, calibrate, and maintain laboratory equipment.
- Ensure compliance with quality assurance and quality control procedures.
- Maintain accurate laboratory records and documentation.
- Adhere to infection prevention and control measures as well as laboratory safety standards.
- Monitor laboratory inventory and request replenishment of reagents and consumables.
- Participate in internal and external quality assurance programmes.
- Communicate critical laboratory results promptly to the appropriate healthcare providers.
- Ensure compliance with Medical Laboratory Science Council of Nigeria (MLSCN) regulations and hospital policies.
- Perform any other duties as assigned by the Head of Laboratory.
Requirements
Education
- Bachelor's Degree (B.MLS/BMLS) in Medical Laboratory Science from a recognized institution.
- Current practicing licence issued by the Medical Laboratory Science Council of Nigeria (MLSCN).
- NYSC discharge or exemption certificate.
Experience
- 2 – 4 years post-NYSC experience in a reputable hospital or diagnostic laboratory.
- Experience in one or more laboratory disciplines (Haematology, Chemical Pathology, Microbiology, Histopathology, Blood Transfusion, or Molecular Diagnostics) is an added advantage.
Other Requirements:
- Valid MLSCN practising licence.
- Strong commitment to ethical and professional practice.
- Ability to work flexible shifts, including weekends and public holidays when required.
- Excellent customer service orientation.
- Candidate must be proactive, dependable, and able to thrive in a fast-paced healthcare environment.
- Must reside in or be willing to relocate to the job location.
