About the Role Bay Area Hospital is seeking a Medical Laboratory Scientist or Medical Laboratory Technician for a part-time role in the Laboratory. The role performs clinical laboratory testing to aid physicians in detection, diagnosis, and treatment of diseases, with opportunities for growth and a supportive work environment.

What You'll Do

  • Perform clinical laboratory testing to aid in detection, diagnosis, and treatment of diseases.
  • Operate LIS/HIS computer systems and specialized automated analyzers; use centrifuges, pipettors, microscopes, and the Pevco pneumatic system.
  • Maintain confidentiality and work independently with minimal supervision; communicate effectively across departments and with the public.
  • Demonstrate strong organizational skills, the ability to multi-task and think critically, and maintain legible handwriting.
  • Adhere to standard medical laboratory techniques and safety precautions; maintain regular attendance.
  • Meet qualification requirements per CLIA-88, Oregon DHS Regulations, CAP, and Joint Commission standards; hold a Bachelor of Science in Medical Technology or Clinical Laboratory Science (transcripts required upon hire).
  • Be able to lift up to 40 pounds and comply with standard precautions related to exposure to blood and body fluids.

What We're Looking For

  • Minimum qualifications: current CLIA-88-based qualifications per Oregon DHS Regulations, CAP and Joint Commission standards; Bachelor of Science in Medical Technology or Clinical Laboratory Science (transcripts required upon hire).
  • Experience with LIS and HIS systems, automated analyzers, centrifuges, pipettors, microscopes, and the Pevco pneumatic system.
  • Proficiency with personal computer use and related software; ability to work interdepartmentally and maintain confidentiality; strong communication and attendance.
  • Physical requirements include ability to sit/stand/walk, lift up to 40 pounds, and comply with safety protocols; ability to read/write and communicate effectively.
  • Union affiliation: UFCW.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Hourly pay range: $38.66–$57.38, depending on significant experience in the role (as listed).
  • Part-time position with 64 hours per pay period; varied shifts.
