About the Role The Medical Interpreter II, National Certification (Spanish) provides interpretation services for patients and families, translating complex medical information between providers and patients to support informed decision-making. This role supports urgent and routine requests across the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, with a focus on clear communication, cultural sensitivity, and compassionate patient care. What You'll Do
- Interpret and transmit accurately complex medical information between medical providers and patients/families, including consent forms, diagnoses, during procedures, and discharge plans.
- Interpret information from patients to providers and maintain complete and accurate records of services rendered.
- Arrive on time for appointments and provide interpretation from entry to discharge; work in-person/on-campus, video, or telephonic modalities; may perform translation.
- Assist patients and clinicians professionally and courteously; refer patients to appropriate resources as needed.
- Follow office protocol and communicate any changes promptly; uphold the Medical Interpreter Codes of Ethics and Standards of Practice and act as a cultural broker when needed.
- Participate in ongoing competency assessments and trainings related to medical terminology, ethics, and interpretation. What We're Looking For
- Bachelor’s Degree with a concentration in a human relations field (e.g., Sociology, Psychology) preferred.
- National Certification as a Medical Interpreter; Spanish language proficiency.
- Strong concentration, attention to detail, and culturally sensitive care; excellent interpersonal and organizational skills.
- Ability to follow directions with minimal supervision and to work in demanding environments.
- Ability to interpret in three modalities: in-person/on-campus, video, and telephonic. Compensation & Benefits
- Salary: $60,000.00 - $67,800.00 per year (USD).
- This is a 100% onsite, per diem style temporary position as described in the posting.
