About the Role The Medical Interpreter I supports patients by providing interpretation of consent forms, diagnoses, discharge plans, and other patient-related information. This role emphasizes timely, accurate interpretation across on-site, video, and telephonic modalities to ensure clear communication throughout the patient care journey. What You'll Do
- Respond promptly to interpretation requests, with priority for emergencies and urgent needs.
- Arrive on time and provide services from entry to discharge.
- Interpret and transmit complex medical information accurately between providers and patients, including consent forms, diagnoses, procedures, and discharge plans, across in-person, video, and telephonic modalities.
- Maintain professional and courteous interactions with patients and clinical teams; refer to appropriate resources when needed.
- Maintain complete and accurate records of services rendered and documentation; follow department procedures for assignments and changes.
- Adhere to Medical Interpreter Codes of Ethics and Standards of Practice; participate in assessments and ongoing competencies.
- Collaborate with Interpreter Services staff and support office tasks as needed. What We're Looking For
- Bachelor's Degree in a human relations field preferred; 1 year of experience as a medical interpreter required; working knowledge of medical terminology.
- Strong concentration, detail orientation, and ability to provide culturally sensitive care; excellent interpersonal skills in demanding situations.
- Ability to follow directions with minimal supervision; strong organizational and time-management skills. Nice to Have
- Bachelor’s Degree in Sociology or Psychology (preferred). Compensation & Benefits
- Salary range: $56,000.00 - $64,200.00 per year.
