About this role
Normal Computing | Build with Us
Normal is an applied AI company solving the hardest problems in AI and silicon. We build foundational hardware and software for the semiconductor industry, critical AI infrastructure, and the broader systems that power our world, in partnership with the world's most advanced institutions. We work as one team across New York City, Silicon Valley (Mountain View), London, Copenhagen, and Seoul.
Your Role in Our Mission
We are hiring a Media & PR Lead to develop the public story of Normal Inference Systems. You will bring the science, engineering and performance of an unfamiliar computing architecture into the public conversation about AI infrastructure and energy.
Working with researchers and engineers, you will learn the science behind the systems and develop original angles for technical media and broader technology, business and policy audiences. Through earned media, alternative media and speaking, you will open opportunities for voices across the company. Alongside the hardware, our team communicates Normal's frontier applied AI research program, which develops AI methods for silicon design and verification.
Reporting to the Head of Communications, you will own media relationships and PR programs, including major announcements, speaking opportunities and partner work. You will carry the public story that colleagues in editorial, technical writing and product marketing develop, and work with social and creative production to plan coverage and amplification around each announcement.
Responsibilities
-
Build media relationships: Develop angles and sustained relationships across technical trades, mainstream media and selected analysts. Write tailored pitches, manage incoming requests and own outreach through publication, maintaining an active story pipeline between major announcements.
-
Secure public engagements: Build and prioritize a pipeline across independent media, podcasts, high-profile public talks, panels and industry forums. Match opportunities to expertise across the company and cultivate hosts and organizers. Develop speaker proposals and recognition nominations, and manage engagements through preparation and delivery.
-
Develop spokespeople: Develop public voices and open opportunities for executives, engineers and researchers with distinct expertise and points of view. Prepare them for interviews, talks and analyst briefings, working with colleagues on narratives, remarks and supporting materials.
-
Run major announcements: Lead the PR and public-communications programs for product, research, financing, partnership and company milestone announcements, from planning through launch and follow-up. Develop messaging with the Head of Communications and leadership, craft press releases, and manage stakeholder coordination, approvals, pitching, briefings and embargoes.
-
Lead partner PR: Develop joint stories and announcement programs grounded in the work and results. Coordinate with partner communications and investor PR teams on messaging, timing, approvals, outreach and amplification.
-
Prioritize opportunities: Recommend where to invest across media, speaking and recognition based on audience fit, business relevance, likely impact and leadership time. Follow industry narratives and competitor coverage, using results and coverage quality to improve priorities.
-
Prepare press materials: Write media kits, briefings, Q&A and contributed pieces with leaders and technical experts. Anticipate difficult questions and misinterpretations, preparing responses with the Head of Communications and relevant experts. Coordinate with colleagues to have editorial, technical and visual collateral reviewed and ready ahead of major PR pushes.
-
Plan amplification: Develop remarks and executive posts tied to media, speaking and company milestones. Work with social and creative production early on content before and after public engagements and around media coverage, coordinating publication timing and follow-up.
What we are looking for:
-
Experience: Substantial experience in media relations, PR or journalism, with work in deep tech, semiconductors, AI infrastructure or adjacent industries. Relevant experience may come from an agency, a newsroom or a company; show us the stories, programs and relationships you personally developed.
-
Story and pitch judgment: You can recognize a strong story, develop an original angle and write tailored pitches that earn attention. You understand the editorial interests of the people you approach.
-
Program ownership: You have run complex announcements involving leaders and multiple organizations. You can build the plan, develop the materials, coordinate reviews and deliver under external deadlines, while keeping strategic decisions and dependencies clear.
-
Technical curiosity: You learn unfamiliar domains quickly, ask useful questions and earn credibility with engineers and researchers. You can explain why a technical result matters while preserving the qualifications that make it accurate.
-
Opportunity judgment: You can assess the relative value of an interview, public talk, panel or alternative media appearance, and explain your recommendation in terms of audience, impact and the time required.
-
Relationship building: You build productive relationships with journalists, independent media, event organizers and external communications teams. You can navigate competing priorities and sensitive information while keeping joint work moving.
-
Original writing: Strong work across press releases, contributed articles, speaker proposals and briefing materials. You draw substance out of experts, bring your own thinking and take drafts to near-complete before final review.
-
Spokesperson development and voice: You have prepared leaders for public engagements and helped new voices build confidence and a distinct point of view. You can write in another person's voice, drawing out their thinking and retaining the substance of their argument.
-
Travel readiness: Willingness to travel up to 25% of the time for team meetings, industry conferences, and media engagements as needed.
