About the Role Join Signify Dynalite’s Sydney R&D team to design world-class connected lighting and building control systems used in iconic projects globally. In this role, you’ll take ideas from concept through to production — seeing your designs deployed in real environments that improve sustainability, efficiency, and human experience.
What You'll Do
- Own the mechanical design of new lighting control products—from concept through prototyping, validation, and production
- Develop robust, manufacturable designs using plastics, sheet metal, and assemblies
- Build and test prototypes in a hands-on lab environment
- Collaborate closely with electronics, firmware, and global R&D teams
- Contribute to system architecture and product innovation
- Translate project requirements into practical engineering solutions
- Improve product performance, reliability, and cost through design optimisation
What We're Looking For
- Bachelor's or higher degree in Mechanical or Mechatronics Engineering
- 3+ years’ experience in mechanical or mechatronic product design
- Strong 3D CAD skills (SolidWorks preferred)
- Experience designing for manufacturing (injection moulded plastics, sheet metal, & assemblies)
- Hands-on prototyping and testing experience
- Familiarity with engineering validation (DFMEA, DFM, etc.)
- Ability to collaborate across disciplines
Nice to Have
- Basic electrical knowledge
- Experience with Adobe Illustrator or similar tools
