Mechanical/Hardware Engineer VII

About the Role The Mechanical/Hardware Engineer VII reports to the head of the HPE networking Mechanical Team and will work in a fast-paced environment on short product development cycles. This role is responsible for the mechanical design of rack-mounted networking products from concept to release-to-manufacture (RTM). The candidate must be hands-on, able to lead design reviews, create BOMs, validate prototypes, manage ECOs, and drive products through regulatory compliance tests. You will initiate and guide original and creative technical efforts. What You'll Do

• Evaluate & integrate new technologies in cooling, interconnect & other relevant areas to develop future solution sets for HPE networking products.
• Provide project scoping and resource planning to support new product development and relevant technologies for the project.
• Track deliverables in support of programs and resolve cross-functional issues.
• Lead technical decisions required on a project.
• Take a leadership role in technical content of the system specification/unit function specification.
• Establish well-defined technical direction and align the direction with that of HPE networking.
• Reviews plan and writes specifications for assigned area.
• Identify issues and technical interdependencies and suggest possible changes. What We're Looking For
• Education: BSME or equivalent with 5+ years of electro-mechanical design experience, with concentration in networking, storage, or server products; MSME or equivalent preferred.
• Proficiency with 3D solid modeling (SolidWorks preferred) and EPDM; working knowledge of tolerance analysis, GD&T, and FEA; IDF & ECAD-MCAD transfer experience; sheet metal design for low/mid-volume production; hard tooling for plastic, aluminum extrusions and aluminum die cast.
• Strong thermal design knowledge, cooling (including liquid cooling), and ability to manage external resources for thermal design solutions.
• Familiarity with NEBS, EMI/EMC, Safety, and other product-specific agency compliance requirements.
• Ability to create & maintain product development schedules; good communication and cross-functional collaboration; budgeting and cost estimation experience. Nice to Have
• MSME or equivalent.
• SolidWorks proficiency; EPDM experience.
• Experience with NEBS/EMI/EMC, or other agency compliance; IDF/ECAD-MCAD transfer; thermal analysis tools. Compensation & Benefits
• Pay rate: $40/hr - $45/hr (contract).
