Job title: Mechanical Technician (Shift-Based Role)
About the Role Join Johnson Matthey as a Mechanical Technician (Shift-Based Role) on a top-tier COMAH site in Royston, UK. You will deliver preventative maintenance, fault-finding, and repairs on mechanical systems, working with the maintenance planner to execute planned activities and ensure safe operation.
What You'll Do
- Delivery of preventative/proactive maintenance of mechanical systems and sub or support systems
- Attend to reactive/corrective maintenance, fault finding, and repairs/replacements/calibration; installation of new systems/equipment and commissioning with operations on returning to service
- Contribute to improving site performance across safe operation, regulatory compliance, productive output and cost efficiency by enhancing equipment reliability and ensuring appropriate maintenance frequency
What We're Looking For
- Previous Manufacturing/Chemical industry experience
- Knowledge of site services (gas, compressed air, steam, cooling water) and how to deenergise and work on safely
- Knowledge and use of technical drawings and operator manuals alongside mechanical exploded view/cross sectional drawings & P&IDs to aid fault diagnosis
- Ability to identify faults and work methodically and safely in a plant environment
Nice to Have
- Basic workshop skills including fabrication of pipework, steelwork, and plastics
- Experience with working on a COMAH site or hazardous environments (beneficial)
Compensation & Benefits
- Salary: Day shift £44,113 base + 20% shift allowance; total £53,331.85; 24/7 shift £44,113 base + 35% shift allowance; total £60,345.05
- Lunch allowances: Day shift £396.25; 24/7 shift £792.50
