About the Role The Mechanical Tech II role at JT4 involves diagnosing malfunctions and performing repair and preventive maintenance on ground support equipment and related mechanical, hydraulic, and electronic systems. This hands-on technician position supports western test ranges under the Joint Range Technical Services Contract, ensuring equipment readiness for military aircraft and training missions. What You'll Do
- Operate equipment and troubleshoot malfunctions using electronic, digital, and hand tools to diagnose defects
- Dismantle and examine parts for damage or excessive wear
- Perform scheduled and unscheduled mechanical maintenance and repair to heavy equipment, parts, accessories, and systems, including mechanical & hydraulic components, bearings, and motors
- Repair, adjust, or replace defective engines and subassemblies
- Repair corrosion, weld broken parts and structural components, and apply protective coatings
- Reassemble equipment using hoists and hand tools
- Realign equipment and re-torque to required specifications
- Test overhauled equipment to ensure operating efficiency
- Service equipment with fuel, oil, water, coolant, hydraulic fluid, refrigerant, and compressed air
- Dispose of hazardous material and waste per environmental regulations
- Perform other position-related duties as assigned What We're Looking For
- Associate degree in mechanical technology or 4+ years of related experience
- Ability to operate heavy equipment
- Qualify for government security clearance
- Valid state driver’s license; CDL is preferred
- Strong mechanical, hydraulic, and welding repair skills; ability to read manuals and schematics Nice to Have
- CDL preferred
- Experience in aerospace/defense or military environments
