About this role

Job title: Mechanical Engineer - WatHab (Water, Sanitation and Hygiene)

About the Role Plan, design, and implement engineering projects within ICRC's WatHab in Detention program in the Beirut delegation. The incumbent will oversee multidisciplinary projects, ensuring completion within defined scope, quality standards, timelines, and budget, and will conduct needs assessments and develop project designs under limited supervision. Applicants must be legally eligible to work in Lebanon.

What You'll Do

  • Assist the program manager in identifying and analyzing needs through assessments and surveys; evaluate feasibility and challenges.
  • Support identification and collaboration with stakeholders who may influence project success; collect information and data to prepare projects; develop studies, project proposals, and technical designs (e.g., specifications, drawings, BoQs) with guidance from technical experts.
  • Prepare and submit project documentation for review; participate in procurement processes and manage contracts in line with delegation rules.
  • Organize and supervise the implementation of project works and activities; anticipate and escalate potential issues, proposing corrective actions.
  • Oversee commissioning and handover of infrastructure and equipment, ensuring proper communication and training for the client on use of facilities, equipment, and services; ensure accurate and timely reporting and documentation using appropriate tools.

What We're Looking For

  • Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering.
  • At least 3 years of professional experience in Mechanical and Electrical Engineering, plus 3 years in Project Management.
  • Legally eligible to work in Lebanon.
  • Knowledge in Facility Management and in Operation and Maintenance; proficient in MEP systems.
  • Language: Arabic native; English full professional working.

Nice to Have

  • Experience with WatHab operations/projects and emergency response.
  • Familiarity with procurement & contracts; ICRC principles and processes.
  • Leadership and people management skills; strong teamwork; client-focused approach.
  • Relevant knowledge in Architecture & Construction, Hygiene and IPC, Water and Sanitation, Electricity and Energy, and related fields.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Salary: 2,120 – 3,095 USD per month.
  • Transportation allowance: 13 USD per day.
  • 13th month salary paid in December, pro rata based on period worked.
  • Annual leave: 20 calendar days pro rata based on period worked.
  • Health insurance: Full coverage (class B, 90% of premium covered by ICRC; upgrade option with additional charges). Coverage includes inpatient and outpatient services, doctor visits, medicines, laboratory tests, and more.
