Mechanical Engineer - Hydropower (Stress & FEA)

ANDRITZ
Pointe-Claire, Quebec, Canada
Hybrid

About this role

About the Role Collaborate with hydraulic design engineers, designers and project teams in the development of turbine designs within technical specifications and cost optimization requirements over project cycles. Execute mechanical analysis (stress and strains) using analytical methods and engineering software. Use building codes, internal design standards and engineering knowledge for turbine component dimensioning and to determine analyses boundary conditions and loads. Elaborate technical specifications and engineering instructions within internal design protocols and industry requirements. When necessary, use and develop techniques such as finite element analysis, analysis of vibrations, fatigue analysis, fracture mechanics, etc. Under the supervision of a technical supervisor, prepare specialized technical reports and advise on the mechanical behaviour of various components. Participate in development and maintenance of design rules and tools. Provide technical support for manufacturing and installation of hydraulic turbines. Participate to problem solving, root cause analysis and design review. Define tools and approach to be used when developing practical and innovative solutions to technical problems. What You'll Do
