About the Role ExxonMobil is seeking an experienced Mechanical Engineer to provide technical leadership for ExxonMobil's global steam cracking furnace fleet. Based in Kuala Lumpur, you will tackle challenges across process safety, reliability, profitability and sustainability, applying a strong technical foundation to deliver solutions with a global ExxonMobil perspective.
What You'll Do
- Provide technical leadership to teams supporting global fleet steam cracking furnaces and develop discipline expertise
- Apply personnel and process safety principles in manufacturing facilities across the globe
- Use fundamental mechanical engineering principles to provide design knowledge for global steam cracking furnace projects and technology
- Participate in troubleshooting and development teams to address complex technical issues
- Train/mentor less experienced mechanical engineers
- Assist operating sites with unit start-up, mechanical troubleshooting and performance evaluations
- Drive operational improvements through technical contribution and innovation
What We're Looking For
- B.S in Mechanical Engineering or higher
- Open to business travel of around 10-20%
- Strong in Mechanical Engineering principles
- Demonstrated knowledge or experience applying mechanical engineering principles
- Strong working knowledge of industry design tools for simulation and mechanical analysis
- Demonstrated ability to use design tools and apply them in complex troubleshooting situations
- Effective verbal and written skills
- Self-starter with initiative
Nice to Have
- Familiarity with ASME B31.3/B31.1 and other codes such as ASME VIII, API 530/560
- Experience with piping flexibility analysis via Caesar II or equivalent
- Interaction with 3rd party vendors and EPCs
- CAD/drafting group interaction for drawings, quality control
- FEA understanding or experience (Abaqus or equivalent)
- Experience with fired equipment (steam cracking, process heaters, combustion equipment)
- Knowledge of olefins manufacturing processes and related refinery/chemicals environment
