Job title: Mechanical & Electrical Technician

About the Role The Maintenance Technician is responsible for diagnosing and repairing the mechanical and electrical systems of plant equipment, including hydraulic, steam, and chemical piping systems. Inspects equipment, performs preventive maintenance, analyzes failures, and helps determine root causes while working safely in continuous operation facilities.

What You'll Do

  • Troubleshoot mechanical and electrical machine failures by disassembly and inspection of components.
  • Use technical documentation (prints, manuals, specifications, etc.) to aid in troubleshooting.
  • Accurately keep maintenance records of critical and quality-related plant equipment.
  • Determine root cause of failure and correct condition to prevent reoccurrence.
  • Audit the maintenance program and identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Repair failures using current procedures and recommend alternative methods of repair.
  • Develop, document, and perform preventive and predictive maintenance tasks to maximize equipment reliability.
  • Generate out-of-tolerance reports when required for equipment outside acceptance criteria.
  • Perform precision maintenance tasks such as alignment checks, measurement of mechanical clearances, and balancing of rotating equipment.
  • Execute motor and plant lubrication tasks, ensuring grease quantity and intervals are within guidelines.
  • Maintain procedures for critical and quality-related plant equipment.
  • Understand and comply with OSHA, state/provincial, and local codes.
  • Participate in plant training and safety programs.
  • Use the company CMMS/SAP to record and access maintenance information.
  • Demonstrate safe work habits and proper care for tools and equipment.
  • Perform other duties as required.
  • Acquire new mechanical, pneumatics and hydraulics knowledge as appropriate.

What We're Looking For

  • High school diploma or GED or equivalent combination of industrial maintenance experience and education.
  • Technical training in an accredited technical school or equivalent, with certification in one or more: industrial math, rigging, industrial maintenance, welding, pipefitting, machining, lubrication, condition-based monitoring (a plus).
  • Formal maintenance/technology program completion and minimum of three years in a general first-class maintenance capacity in an industrial environment; some electrical and control systems troubleshooting experience is necessary.
  • Basic electrical knowledge or experience with AC/DC voltage; knowledge of PLCs and VFDs.
  • Ability to complete pre-employment assessments; pass background check and physical/drug screens as applicable by local government.
  • Knowledge of installation, maintenance, and repairs of common mechanical systems in an industrial manufacturing facility; prior experience with conveyors (screw, drag, belt), centrifugal pumps, pneumatic/hydraulic systems, material handling systems, or boiler/steam systems preferred.
  • Ability to read and understand labels, blueprints, schematics, job site maps/directions, instruction manuals and/or written instructions accurately.
  • English language skills; team-oriented; computer literate with CMMS experience (SAP a plus).
  • Knowledge of GMP and Food Safety a plus; understanding of OSHA rules.

Nice to Have

  • Previous experience with conveyors (screw, drag, belt), centrifugal pumps, pneumatic and hydraulic systems, material handling systems, or boiler/steam systems.
  • SAP experience a plus; GMP/Food Safety knowledge; OSHA familiarity.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Base pay of $40.55 per hour with potential shift differential; overtime as required.
