About the Role Corning’s Mobile Consumer Electronics group is seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer to design and implement glass forming manufacturing equipment from concept through end-of-life, collaborating with operations and suppliers to improve product quality and yield.
What You'll Do
- Concept development, detailed design, validation, production support, and continuous improvement of equipment designs.
- Design and release of new process tools, equipment, repairs, and upgrades to existing platforms.
- Product life cycle management (PLM) of forming equipment, including configuration control, revision management, and technical documentation.
- Development and implementation of design adjustments and compensations based on process performance, quality feedback, and operational data.
What We're Looking For
- Hands-on experience designing and supporting tooling or manufacturing equipment in production environments, with understanding of supplier interactions, plant constraints, and continuous improvement.
- BS in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
- 3+ years of experience in manufacturing equipment design roles.
- Process equipment design for glass, metals, plastics, or other high-volume manufacturing.
