Job title: Mechanical Commissioning Technician
About the Role Join Johnson Matthey as a Mechanical Commissioning Technician on the landmark 3CR project at Royston. You’ll be part of the Operational Readiness team, hands-on commissioning and maintaining high-integrity mechanical and electrical systems on an upper-tier COMAH site, ensuring reliability and safety. This role blends reactive and proactive maintenance with fault diagnosis and plant modifications to bring the 3CR facility to life and keep it running at peak performance.
What You'll Do
- Provide skilled execution of planned, reactive and corrective mechanical and electrical maintenance activities to ensure ongoing reliability across the plant.
- Deliver effective problem solving and mechanical/electrical fault diagnosis skills, prioritising work to support daily operational needs.
- Undertake occasional plant modification work to enhance safety and efficiency.
- Conduct inspections, testing, adjustments, and monitoring tasks to maintain efficient plant and built-in equipment reliability.
- Collaborate with Maintenance Lead and operations to ensure compliance with EHS and COMAH requirements.
What We're Looking For
- A recognised Mechanical or Electrical Engineering qualification (e.g., BTEC ONC/HNC, C&G Parts 1 & 2, NVQ Level 3 or equivalent).
- City & Guilds Electrical Installation Parts One and Two; BS7671 18th edition.
- Experience in a large-scale manufacturing/chemical industry maintenance function.
- Desirable: Profibus networking experience.
Nice to Have
- Profibus networking experience (desirable).
Compensation & Benefits
- Base salary £44,261 plus £792.50 meal allowance and 35% shift allowance.
- 12.5 hour day shift pattern including weekends on a rotation of 5 days on / 4 days off. May be required to work outside normal hours during busy periods (Stocktake in April/May) with holiday restriction during Stocktake.
